Cooking time: 30 min.
Peel the onion and dice it
finely.
Cut the bacon into slices.
Melt the butter in a saucepan:

Fry the onion and bacon in the butter for 5 min.
Add hot water to the saucepan. Dice the potato...:
... then add to the saucepan.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 min. Chop some fresh
herbs and add to the soup 30 seconds before the end of cooking:

soup adding a hard-boiled egg if desired: |
