How To Boil Eggs

  • Eggs cook best at room temperature, so take them out of the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking or put them into worm water for 5 minutes;

  • One at a time lower eggs on a spoon into a  pan filled two-thirds full with simmering water:

  • Bring the water up to a simmer again, then start timing

  • 4-5 minutes for a softly boiled egg with a runny yolk:

  • 6-7 minutes for a set yolk and white:

  • 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled egg

  • When the time is up, remove the eggs from the water with a slotted spoon. and plunge them straight into cold water and leave for 2 - 5 minutes, then drain and peel. Leave in fresh cold water until ready to serve
